7 Steps to Healing

When our family began this journey, we felt lost. The internet was overwhelming, doctors offered limited options, and support felt hard to find. We searched for clarity, peace, and direction in a moment filled with uncertainty.

These 7 Steps to Healing reflect the foundation of what helped us most — spiritually, physically, and emotionally. They are not meant to overwhelm you, but to guide you gently, one intentional step at a time, no matter where you’re starting from.

Step 1 — Pause + Pray

Before anything else: pause and breathe.
Place your hand over your heart. Slow your exhale. Let your shoulders drop.

“Lord, bring peace to my mind, wisdom to my choices, and discernment to my path. Lead me step by step. Amen.”

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” — Philippians 4:6–7

Your nervous system needs to feel safe in order to heal.
Your spirit needs to be anchored in Christ.
Your body listens to the state of your heart.

This is where healing begins.

Cancer or any disease is not your body betraying you. It is your body sending a message.

You are NOT powerless. Your daily choices create real, measurable change.

Remove what harms. Replace with what heals. Support the body, don’t fight it.

Your body is designed by God to heal, repair, and restore when supported.

Step 2 — Remove the Toxins: Create a Healing Environment

Before we talk about what to add to your healing journey, we start with removing what is blocking your healing. Your body cannot detox if your environment is constantly adding new toxins in. This step is about clearing out what harms so your body can begin to repair.

Healing is not just about nutrition, supplements, or protocols.
Healing begins with removing the toxic burden on your body.
Remove what inflames the body → the body can finally begin to heal.

Clean Out the Pantry

What you fuel your body with, will determines how well it functions.

Processed foods, refined sugars, seed oils, and packaged snacks create inflammation, overload the liver, and disrupt gut balance — all of which slow healing.

Tangible Action (do this today):
Go to your pantry and remove 3–5 items that contain:

  • Ingredients you cannot pronounce

  • Added sugars or artificial sweeteners

  • Inflammatory seed oils: soybean, canola, sunflower, safflower

  • Phrases like “artificial flavor,” “color,” or “preservatives”

Replace them with foods that bring life:

  • Fresh vegetables + fruit

  • Whole grains (quinoa, brown rice, oats)

  • Nuts, seeds, beans, legumes

  • Clean ingredients you recognize

Real food fuels healing.

Pitch the Toxic Toiletries + Cleaning Supplies

Your skin absorbs what you put on it.
Your lungs absorb what you breathe in.

Fragrances, lotions, deodorants, dryer sheets, and cleaning sprays can contain chemicals that disrupt hormones, burden the liver, and suppress the immune system.

Tangible Action (this week):
Choose one category to swap: ECOS is the brand that we use in our home

  • Laundry detergent

  • Hand soap

  • Deodorant

  • Body wash

  • All-purpose cleaner

  • Fragrance (candles, plugins, perfume, dryer sheets)

Choose products that are:

  • EWG Verified or rated low-tox

  • Free of hormone-disrupting chemicals

  • Free of artificial fragrance + harsh chemicals

Small swaps create massive change over time.

Why This Matters

When your home environment is toxic, your liver is constantly working just to keep up, leaving less capacity for healing.
When you remove the burden, the body finally gets to rest and repair.

Make space for healing.
Remove what harms.
Your body will respond.

Step 3 — Nutrition: Eat to Bring Life. Food is Medicine

There are many diets that claim to heal, but here’s what we’ve learned through our own journey:

Return to how we were created to eat.
Simple. Pure. From the earth. Think: The Garden of Eden.

A plant-powered, nutrient-dense diet helps the body reduce inflammation, strengthen the immune system, restore gut balance, and support cellular repair.

This is not about restriction — it’s about rebuilding.

When Zach was healing from cancer, this is what he daily meal plan looked like:

  • 50+ ounces of juice everyday

  • 32 ounce fiber smoothie

  • 1-2 giant salads packed with cruciferous vegetables, nuts, seeds, legumes and berries

Why Juicing Helps the Body Heal

When you juice, you are concentrating the nutrition of whole plants into a form your body can absorb quickly and easily without using much energy to digest it.

Your digestive system requires huge amounts of energy every day. When you’re healing, your body needs that energy to:

  • Repair damaged cells
  • Strengthen the immune system
  • Reduce inflammation
  • Detox and cleanse waste + toxins

By removing the fiber through juicing, you give your stomach and intestines a rest, which frees your body to focus on healing instead of heavy digestion.

In short: Juicing floods your cells with nutrients while giving your body the energy it needs to restore and repair.

Benefits of Juicing

  • Floods cells with vitamins, minerals, enzymes & phytonutrients
  • Reduces inflammation and oxidative stress
  • Supports detox pathways
  • Nourishes the microbiome and supports gut healing
  • Strengthens immune function by freeing up energy used for digestion

Start with These Juices

Green Healing Juice
Cucumber, Celery, Kale, Lemon, Ginger, Green apple and lemon

Carrot Mineral Juice
Carrots, Celery, Green apple, Ginger, Lemon

Fiber - Can we make fiber the new protein?

Fiber is one of the most powerful, gentle ways your body removes toxins, balances hormones, supports gut bacteria, and reduces inflammation. When your body is under stress or fighting disease, your detox pathways need to be moving. Waste cannot sit in the body. Your bowels need to flow daily for true healing to happen. Fiber binds to toxins, escorts them out, feeds your microbiome, regulates blood sugar, and supports your immune system. Healing isn’t just about what you put in, it’s about what your body can release.

40-Gram Fiber Smoothie

2 tbsp chia seeds • 2 tbsp hemp seeds • 2 tbsp ground flax • 1 avocado • 1 banana (optional) • ¼ cup raw almonds • 2 cups frozen berries • Juice of 2 lemons • Water to blend

Anti-Cancer “Rainbow Healing” Salad

Base: Spinach or spring mix, Shredded red cabbage, Cucumber slices, Grated carrot, Avocado, Blueberries, Black beans, Chickpeas, Olives, Broccoli spouts, Pumpkin seeds or Hemp seeds

Dressing: 2 tbsp olive oil, 1 tbsp lemon juice, 1 tsp raw honey, Sea salt + black pepper

Eat color! Switch it up, try new recipes and have fun with it... but remember this, you do not need to change everything overnight. Just begin. One juice. One smoothie. One salad. One hopeful step at a time.

Your body was designed by God to heal. Your job is to create the environment for that healing to happen.

Step 4 — Supplementation: Simplify to Support

When Zach was first diagnosed, we were desperate. If the internet said it had anti-cancer properties, we bought it. Our counter looked like a supplement warehouse. He was taking handfuls of pills multiple times a day.

We thought we were helping… but in reality, his liver was overwhelmed, his digestion struggled, and we were spending hundreds of dollars every month on things his body couldn’t even use. Most of it was being urinated out before it ever reached the cells.

And even more importantly: When the body is stressed, inflamed, or overloaded — it cannot heal. Too much of anything becomes a burden on the body. We needed to simplify.

What We Learned

The most powerful healing support comes from:

  • Reducing inflammation
  • Supporting cellular repair
  • Improving immune function
  • Lowering stress in the body

The research is extremely clear on what does that:

🍄 Medicinal Mushrooms — Support immune intelligence (not just “boosting” it), help the body target abnormal cells, strengthen resilience + cellular communication.

🌿 Immune Modulating Compounds — Help the body respond to stress instead of collapse under it; lower cortisol + inflammation; support energy, hormones, and mood.

These were the core things that consistently helped Zach. Not the 37 random supplements. Not the trendy powders. Not the “this might help” advice from the internet at 3 AM. Just real, studied, God-designed plant intelligence.

So We Simplified.

Zach now takes wild-harvested medicinal mushrooms (Chaga, Reishi, Maitake, Turkey Tail) and targeted adaptogens: Black seed, Dandelion root, Curcumin, Quercetin.

These herbs and mushrooms have been studied for cellular repair, inflammation balance, immune modulation, liver support and detoxification.

And instead of swallowing them all separately… we put them all in one formula. This is how BioDefense Plus was born. We developed it because we needed something simple, powerful, and supportive of healing, not stress.

2 teaspoons a day. That’s it.

Other Supplements That Truly Matter

  • Vitamin D + K2 — Crucial for immune function; low vitamin D is linked to cancer progression; K2 directs calcium to bones not soft tissue.
  • Magnesium — Supports sleep, stress, detox pathways, and energy production; most people are deficient; helps regulate 300+ cellular processes.

Our philosophy: We don’t try to “fight” cancer with more products. We support the terrain of the body so the body itself can do what it was designed to do: Heal. Restore. Rebuild.

Step 5 — Biological Dentistry

Your mouth is connected to your whole body. Hidden dental infections can suppress the immune system, burden the liver, and contribute to chronic disease.

Root canals, cavitations, extraction sites, and old dental work can harbor bacteria the immune system cannot reach.

97% of women with breast cancer who had a root canal — had it on the same side as their cancer.

We learned this firsthand in Zach’s journey. His 3D scan revealed hidden infection + high-risk bacteria linked to colorectal cancer behavior.

Action Steps:

  • Find a certified biological dentist (look for IAOMT and SMART certified)
  • Request a 3D Cone Beam Scan
  • Consider MyPerioPath testing to identify oral pathogens

Step 6 — Sunlight, Breath & Movement

Your body was created to heal when it is supported, and some of the most powerful healing tools are the simplest ones: fresh air, movement, and sunlight. None cost money. None require complicated plans. Each changes the chemistry of your body in ways that directly support healing.

☀️ Sunlight

Sunlight does far more than warm your skin. It communicates with your cells, hormones, metabolism, and immune system. Sunlight helps your body produce Vitamin D, regulate melatonin, support circadian rhythm, and increase blood oxygenation. Just 10–20 minutes of sunlight on your face each morning signals to your body: “It’s time to live, heal, and repair.”

🌬️ Breath

Your breath is directly connected to your nervous system. Slow, intentional breathing lowers cortisol, activates the parasympathetic system (healing mode), improves lymph flow, and brings oxygen to every cell. Try: Inhale 4 seconds, Hold 2 seconds, Exhale 6–8 seconds. Repeat 10 times.

🚶 Movement

Your lymphatic system has no pump. It moves because you move. Daily movement is about detoxification and healing (walking, rebounding, gentle stretching, shaking, dry brushing, deep breathing). Goal: 10,000 steps a day — broken up into gentle movement throughout the day. Movement should feel nourishing, not stressful.

In Simple Terms: Sunlight tells your body to heal. Breath tells your nervous system to calm. Movement helps your body release what it no longer needs. Healing doesn’t begin with intensity. It begins with consistency.

Consider a vibration plate or a rebounder.

Step 7 — Detox & Drainage

Your body is always working to remove waste, toxins, inflammation, and damaged cells. But when drainage pathways are blocked or sluggish, the body becomes overwhelmed and healing slows down.

So before we push detox, we first make sure the detox pathways are open.

Coffee Enemas [linked]

Support the liver, increase glutathione, stimulate bile flow, calm inflammation, and support cellular repair. We used these multiple times a week in our journey. Read our Coffee Enema Guide. The Power of a Coffee Enema

Sauna or Sweating [linked]

Your skin is your largest detox organ. Sweating helps clear heavy metals, environmental toxins, hormonal waste, and stored inflammation. Options: sauna, hot bath + blankets, or walking until you lightly sweat.

Castor Oil Packs [linked]

Castor oil supports liver drainage, lymphatic flow, and the parasympathetic nervous system. Use over the liver or abdomen while resting or praying to signal the body: “It is safe to heal.”

Mineral-Rich Hydration [linked]

Hydration is not just water. Your cells need minerals to actually absorb water and release toxins. Add Celtic sea salt, trace minerals, coconut water, and herbal teas. Hydration supports lymphatic movement, liver drainage, and detox pathways.

It's important to make sure the water you're drinking is clean and filtered. Tap water can contain chlorine, fluoride, PFAS, heavy metals, pharmaceuticals, and endocrine disruptors.

We use a reverse osmosis (RO) system in our home because it removes those contaminants.

In Short: Detox is not about pushing the body harder. It’s about supporting the pathways God designed, so the body can release what it no longer needs. When drainage is open: inflammation decreases, energy increases, and the body starts to repair.

Your story is not over. There is hope. There is healing. And you do not have to walk this journey alone.
